John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is a crown jewel of Key Largo and the first underwater park in the United States. Spanning over 70 nautical square miles, the park is a haven for snorkelers, divers, and marine enthusiasts. Its vibrant coral reefs are home to a stunning variety of marine life, including angelfish, sea turtles, and moray eels. Visitors can explore the underwater wonders by snorkeling, diving, or taking a glass-bottom boat tour. Above water, the park offers kayaking and canoeing through mangrove trails, as well as nature trails and picnic areas.
